Wayne’s Early Days
His Love for Speed and Adventure
As a teenager, Wayne’s passions revolved around motorbikes and surfing. These early interests set the stage for his lifelong journey into jetboarding.
Wayne’s Motorbike Adventures
“My first motorbike was bought in pieces, and I had to hide it because I wasn’t allowed one,” Wayne recalls.
Despite the challenges, he managed to assemble it with the help of friends and experienced his first thrill ride.
Of course, that first ride didn’t end well, with a stuck throttle and a backflip off a tree—but it was the beginning of a love for speed.
Learning to Surf
Surfing wasn’t far behind. Borrowing an oversized longboard and sneaking it to the beach, Wayne faced his first waves in the dark.
“Before I knew it, I was hooked,” he says. His determination even led to an unexpected friendship with a beach bully who eventually taught him to surf.
Discovering Motorised Surfboards
The Start of the Jetboard Journey
In the late 1990s, Wayne and his brother Grant stumbled upon their first motorised surfboard in Brighton. From that moment, Wayne’s fascination with jetboards only grew.
Wayne’s First Jetboard
Early models like the Surf Jet and PowerSki were heavy and cumbersome, but they opened Wayne’s eyes to the possibilities of motorised surfing.
He became a collector, restoring vintage boards and pushing the boundaries of innovation.
The Jetsurf Revolution
“The first time I saw a Jetsurf, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” says Wayne. Lightweight and portable, it marked a turning point in jetboarding.
Wayne became one of the first riders in the UK, falling in love with the sport and helping it grow.
